This summer, we asked the question: “What improvements or opportunities would you like to see in the downtown immediately, in the short term and in the long term?” The ask was a part of our work to update our Livable Centers Initiative Plan.
In mid-July, we held a kick-off open house that drew about 50 people, with attendees encouraged to provide input onsite, as well as to fill out the Community Input Survey, which citizens were invited to participate in throughout the summer.
The survey closed Sept. 12 with 269 responses.
On Sept. 9, the City hosted a Visioning Workshop at the new City Hall. Members of the community were invited to share their thoughts on the plan's goals, see exciting concepts take shape in real time, and tell the City staff and consultant team what matters most to them.
We’re not done yet, and we still need your help before we’re finished.
We invite those who were unable to attend our workshop to participate via an online forum. Visit www.springsinmotionlci.com/visioning-workshop (or scan the QR code) to download and view the Visioning Workshop boards that were shown at the Sept. 9 event. Then, via the website, find links to give feedback on the plan's goals and its preliminary recommendations.

All of this feedback will be compiled and incorporated into a draft plan. City officials and our consultants have tentatively scheduled a Draft Plan Open House for Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at City Hall, with the time to be determined. (Event details subject to change.)
What is a Livable Centers Initiative Plan?
The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) is a grant program that incentivizes local jurisdictions, like the City of Powder Springs, to re-envision their communities as vibrant, walkable places that offer increased mobility options, encourage healthy lifestyles and provide improved access to jobs and services.
The ARC board has allocated $600 million through 2050 to fund transportation projects resulting from completed LCI studies.
For more information about the LCI program, visit the Atlanta Regional Commission's website.
